Let me know what was most useful for you in the comments!
Hello! I'm Jessica Hansen, I am your Systems Magician, and today I am here talking about excuses. We are going to bust through all of your excuses and I'm going to tell you exactly how to do that.
But First, I am going to give you a challenge.
How many names can you come up with for an excuse? We hear them all the time... All those things that people say - excuses - could be considered a crutch, an obstacle, a hurdle, a challenge, or any reason why you "can't" do something. That is always it.
What are you really saying? You're making an excuse. Let's get one thing clear - CAN'T and WON'T - they are not equal. OK? STOP. They are not equal. Can't means it's physically impossible. If you imagine a quadriplegic in a wheel chair, can't get up and walk across the room. OK? That is physically impossible for that person. THAT is a CAN'T.
MOST of the time, we are talking about things that we're not doing - it's because we WON'T do them. We use can't and won't interchangeably, and that's not actually correct. So can't and won't - can't = physically impossible, won't = you are making a choice. You have made a conscious choice that you don't want to do it, you're NOT going to do it. Some examples: I don't have time to ... or I don't know how to ... That's not the truth. The truth is, you're choosing not to, and you won't do it, not you can't do it. So, let's dig in a little bit deeper. What's actually behind your excuse? What do I mean? What's behind your excuse? It could be fear, it could be something that's difficult to do, it could feel like a big stretch, or work... A lot of us shy away from work we don't want to have to do it. But, the really juicy thing that could be hiding there ...you might have to own something that you really don't want to. OOOOh . juicy....
For real, think about it. Dig into it a little bit. So that's what excuses are, what they really hide as in our current vocabulary, and what's actually behind those excuses - so what are you going to do about it? You're going to own it! That'a right - OWN it. If you want to achieve your dreams, you have to do the work. There's no other way. You have to do the work. Sometimes that simply means busting through the excuse. Sometimes it means you have to dig, and then dig, and then dig, and then dig, to get through all those layers to find out where is the actual excuse. You will find it! If you dig deep enough, you will find it. And - the thing is, let's go back to this cliche phrase, "Rome wasn't built in a day." And neither was your excuse. OK? It's going to take time, it's going to take effort, and you have to put in that work. And I would challenge you to take a look the next time something's not going the way you think it should. REFLECT ON THAT. Dig into it a little bit. Where is the excuse? Where is it?! I guarantee that there's an excuse in there somewhere.
