Grateful or not, here I am!

Are you truly grateful for where you’re at?  For where you are in your business, in your life, in your career?  Do you accept where you are in the journey you’re on, or are you actually grateful for the knowledge you have, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the life experience you have?

I have had to come to terms with this in my life a few different times.  When I became a mother way before I was ready.  When I had to put my kids in daycare to go to work.  When I ended an abusive relationship with my ex-husband.  When I quit working full-time to raise my younger kids, and put my entire professional career on the back burner.  But you know what, though all of these decisions were super-difficult, they all contributed to who and where I am today.

I wouldn’t have sought out the different things I learned to do if life was easy all of the time.  And, I am grateful to have learned so many varied skills.

I would not have learned how to be as strong of a mother, if I hadn’t been a single mom for 3 years.  I am grateful to have had the experience.

I would not have learned how to come back from having nothing, if I hadn’t ended up homeless.  I am grateful to have had that experience.

I would not have learned how to manage my finances so strictly, if I hadn’t had to live with a very low income and on food stamps.  I am grateful to have had that experience.

I would not have learned resilience and patience with myself, if I had succeeded the first time I started a business.  I am grateful to have had that experience.

If I didn’t have all of the experiences I did in my life, I truly wouldn’t be where I am today.  Life isn’t perfect, but I am where I am right now, and I am grateful to be here.  I’ve created a life for myself now that wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t appreciate the “getting here.”

Where are you?  Where do you want to go?  Are you grateful for the experiences you’ve had?  Share them below!
